Wood River Fire Department Upgrades Ambulance Equipment with $10,000 Community Foundation Grant

WOOD RIVER, Neb. — The Wood River Fire Department recently upgraded its emergency medical equipment using a $10,000 grant from the Wood River Centennial Community Foundation.

The grant was used to replace a cardiac monitor in the department’s secondary ambulance that was becoming obsolete and could no longer receive software upgrades. To keep costs down, the department used the funding to purchase a refurbished monitor that matches the model already used in its primary ambulance.

With the purchase complete, the department placed the newer monitor into the primary ambulance and moved the primary ambulance’s existing monitor over to the secondary vehicle. The obsolete monitor has been retired from service.

This change allows the department to operate the same type of cardiac monitor across both of its ambulances. Having identical equipment in both vehicles ensures consistency for emergency personnel during medical calls.
