Rhonda Mead Denman Memorial Scholarship and Deborah DeVore Rogers Memorial Scholarship.
Two new Wood River Community Centennial Foundation (WRCCF) scholarships were established this past year, the Rhonda Mead Denman Memorial Scholarship and the Deborah DeVore Rogers Memorial Scholarship.
Rhonda was a 1977 graduate of Wood River High School. Her family includes four generations of Wood River alumni She served the community in many different ways, including being a paraprofessional at the Wood River Elementary School where she touched many little hearts just as they touched hers.
Deborah, daughter of Richard and Patricia DeVore, was a 1974 graduate of Wood River High. She spent her career with Maricopa County Community College in Arizona. Education was important to her as she completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in educational learning and was working on her PH.D when she became ill.
The Wood River Community Centennial Foundation Scholarships are awarded annually to the current Wood River Rural High School seniors. This year sixteen scholarships valued at $10,950.00 will be awarded. WRCCF also holds the funds for Scholar Dollars with the earnings paid out annually. This year $2,000.00 was paid out for Scholar Dollars.
Since the first scholarships paid out in 1985 over 543 scholarships have been awarded to Wood River Rural High School seniors valued at $257,685.00. The WRCF is proud and grateful to work with the donors in establishing these scholarships.
