Small community living at its best can be seen at the Wood River Fitness Center. The Center opened in 2006 as part of the addition to the Wood River Rural High School. Area residents may use the Fitness Center FREE (one time, nominal fee for security clearance). Most of the Center’s fitness equipment was acquired with grants from the Wood River Centennial Community Foundation. The current fitness center hours are 5:30 am – 8:30 pm M-F if school is in session. Learn more at tinyurl.com/wrfitness.
Recently, two new Peloton bikes and five spinning bikes were added to the center with funding by the Wood River Community Centennial Foundation. Spinning classes are offered daily. A community-wide Fitness Center survey and Open House in January have revealed two clear requests from the community to motivate us all toward lifelong wellness:
1. Weekend hours for improved community access
2. Instructor-led fitness classes such as Zumba, Jazzercise, etc.
The Wood River Foundation and a Wood River Vision 20/20 Fitness Center task force have joined forces to raise funds as part of the Heartland United Way’s “Go Big Give” on May 3rd. When you give to WRCCF during Go Big Give 2018, you will help make it possible to open and staff the center for several hours on Saturdays and Sundays. You will also make it possible add padded flooring to a 36’x36′ area within the center where fitness classes can be held.
Come see all the Fitness Center has to offer and learn how you can help! Stop out to the Fitness Center Open House May 3rd from 10 am – 7 pm. (Wood River High School, 13800 West Wood River Road, Wood River NE 68883) Enter through the Theater doors. A donation station will be set up in the Theater Lobby where you can give online or write your check, as well as complete paperwork to get your keyless entry card. Tours of the Fitness Center will be available throughout the day to get you acquainted and on the path to lifelong wellness!
The first 25 donors at the $100+ level will receive a sweet t-shirt in appreciation. All donors will have the chance to have their name drawn for any number of cool other prizes, including a Polar Heart Watch, Amazon Echo Dot, and more! Follow Wood River’s Go Big Give campaign on Facebook at WRCCF – Like and Share before May 3rd to help spread the word and see the great prizes you can win by making a donation to this campaign.
Thank you in advance for helping reach our $10,000 goal so we can receive an $1,800 matching gift from the WRCCF Heritage Bank Employees Fund and make both dreams a reality!
